“I want to express my feelings instead of illustrating them. It doesn't matter how the paint is applied as long as something is said. On the ground, I'm more comfortable. I feel closer, more part of the painting, as I can walk around it, work on all four sides and literally be in the painting. When I'm painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It's only after a period of familiarization that I see what I've been doing. I'm not afraid to make changes, as the painting has a life of its own.” Jackson Pollock (1952)
“Quero expressar meus sentimentos em vez de ilustrá-los. Não importa como a tinta é aplicada, desde que algo seja dito. No chão, fico mais à vontade. Sinto-me mais próximo, mais parte da pintura, pois assim posso andar à volta dela, trabalhar pelos quatro lados e estar literalmente na pintura. Quando estou pintando, não tenho consciência do que estou fazendo. É só depois de um período de familiarização que vejo o que tenho feito. Não tenho medo de fazer alterações, pois a pintura tem vida própria.”
