Sandro Lopes
Praia, Cape Verde. 1996

Sandro Lopes (1996, Cape Verde) is a self-taught visual artist and designer currently based in France. His practice focuses on painting, exploring the relationship between abstraction and figuration to investigate themes such as memory, identity, and cultural heritage. Influenced by his experience between Cape Verde and Europe, he uses color, texture, and gesture to construct open visual narratives where personal and collective experiences intersect.
His work understands painting as a space for investigation and dialogue, inviting the viewer to reflect on belonging, transformation, and the emotional dimension of human experience.
His career in the arts began with the “Kabu Verdi Contemporâneo” collective exhibition in 2018.
Lopes has since participated in numerous group exhibitions, solidifying his presence in the contemporary art scene.
His first solo exhibition, “Reflex D’nha Alma,” was held in 2021, showcasing his ability to capture personal and cultural reflections through his art
